NDA stands for National Defence Academy entrance exam. It is a competitive examination conducted by the UPSC. The UPSC conducts this examination to select deserving candidates, who will undergo training at the reputed NDA, Khadakwasla, Pune.
NDA trains cadets belonging to each wing of the Indian Armed Forces – the Army, Navy and Air Force! 10+2 passed students are eligible to appear for this examination.
If a student wants to join the Indian Army, Indian Navy or IAF as an Office right after 12th, he must appear for NDA examination! This examination is conducted twice each year by UPSC.
Since it is conducted twice an year, these exams are labeled as –

- NDA 2

NDA 1: Official Calendar
What is a calendar (associated with an exam), you may ask. A calendar shows all the important dates associated with a particular entrance exam. In this case, we will deal with NDA 1 examination!
There are few important events associated with any competitive examination. They are –
- Issuing of Official notification
- Starting date of application process
- Last date of application process
- Last date to make corrections
- Date of issuing admit cards for download
- Date of examination
- Date when answer key is released
- Result announcement date

It all starts with the publication of official notification. UPSC published the notification on its website, relevant publications and employment magazines. The notification is usually published by all leading dailies in India.
The notification consists of all the details about NDA 1 examination such as – eligibility, important dates, application process etc.
A candidate must apply for the exam within the stipulated amount of time! Failing this, he won’t be able to take part in the exam!
On the specified date, UPSC will issue admit cards to candidates. Each candidate must download and print his admit card for future use! Admit card must be carried while one is going to appear for NDA written examination.
A few days after the examination, answer key will be made available on relevant portals. Candidates may use the answer key to tally their marks.
